The best bongs are made by hand. They have been crafted with the utmost care and attention, and each piece is unique. This means that cleaning your bong can be a very involved process.
There are several ways to clean your bong, but we’ll go over one of the most common methods here. You don’t need to spend too much time on this type of cleaning, as long as you follow these simple steps. Once you get used to them, it will only take you about 10 minutes for an entire session.
Cleaning your bong with vinegar
This method uses vinegar to remove stains from your glass pieces. Vinegar contains acetic acid which dissolves organic matter such as oils, grease, and dirt. It also has a mild antibacterial effect. All in all, vinegar works wonders when it comes to removing stubborn odors and stains.
Using vinegar requires a lot of preparation before hand. Make sure you pour some into a bowl or glass bottle before using it. Then, add water to make up for the volume lost during mixing.
Before placing the bowl inside of your bong, use a rag to wipe down its surface. If there is any dust stuck to it, gently brush it off with a toothbrush.
Most of the time, you will come across with bongs which are made with glass water bongs material. It looks very attractive as well as gives a cleaner look. It is customizable according to the colour, shape and size. More often, bongs are also available in silicone material which is also very popular. These type of bongs are shatter-proof and very convenient to use.
With everything cleaned, fill the bowl with hot water. Place it inside the bong, then let it sit until it cools down completely. When it is at room temperature, drain the water out through the hose. This step is important because some of the cleaning solution may remain inside of the bowl, causing the water to become cloudy and discolored.
After draining the bowl, refill it with fresh water. Add 1 cup of white distilled vinegar and mix it well. Let it sit again until it cools down completely. This time, though, wait 30 seconds before adding the water. The reason for this is that the vinegar takes longer to evaporate from the surface than the water.
Now, place the bowl back inside of the bong and let it sit for another 30 seconds. Pour the remaining mixture out through the bottom opening of the bong. Rinse the bowl with warm water until all of the vinegar is gone and then let it dry completely before storing it away.
Don’t Forget Your Bong Glasses
You might think that you don’t need to wash your bong glasses if they’re just being used as cups. However, some of the best bongs come in sets, and you want to make sure that your bong glasses are kept as clean as possible. There is nothing worse than tasting bad weed mixed with dirty bong glass.
When you’re cleaning your bong, remember to rinse it thoroughly. Also, make sure to keep your bong glasses separate from your main bong bowl. The same goes for any other accessories that you may have used while smoking. For example, if you had a special filter attached to your bong, put it aside after rinsing it.
Cleaning your bong with rubbing alcohol
This method involves using rubbing alcohol instead of vinegar. Many people prefer this because it doesn’t leave a strong chemical smell behind. However, it does have drawbacks. One of the biggest ones is that it leaves behind a sticky residue, so it’s not recommended for every kind of material.
Start by pouring some rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and use it to wipe down the entire surface of your bong. Be careful not to apply too much pressure because otherwise, you may damage the bong.
Once the surface is clean, let it air dry. Afterward, you can proceed to rinse the bong with warm water. While doing so, remember to keep the water from getting inside of the glass.
Cleaning your bong with soap and water
Some people claim that washing their bong with soap and water is not effective and that they can still get rid of the odor and stains caused by smoke. However, this is simply false. Even after going through the steps listed above, you will still notice that there are still some lingering smells and stains left behind.
In order to clean your bong properly, you must do it in stages. Start by wiping down the outside of the bong with vinegar. Don’t forget to rub down the sides as well. Next, let the bowl soak for a few hours in enough boiling water. Do not cover it with plastic wrap or anything else, because you don’t know what could potentially happen inside of the bong.
After putting the bowl in the sink, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. Use a sponge or rag to scrub the inside of the bowl. Make sure not to scrub too hard because you don’t want to scratch the inside of the glass.
Let the bowl air dry. Afterwards, fill it with water and let it cool for 15-20 minutes. Finally, rinse the bowl once more with vinegar. Repeat the whole process until there are no more odors or stains left behind.
While this method does work, it can cause some bubbles if the water washes away the residual chemicals. So, it’s always better to go with something like rubbing alcohol instead.
